INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 7, 2000
A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing "Million Mom March Mothers' Day 2000" on May 14, 2 2000. 3 WHEREAS, Organizers and participants in the Million Mom March 4 in Washington, D.C., on May 14, 2000, are joining in a 5 nationwide initiative to highlight issues of widespread gun 6 violence and promote enactment of appropriate Federal gun 7 control legislation; and 8 WHEREAS, Concerned men and women are mobilizing to educate 9 children and others about the life-threatening danger of 10 firearms and to call for common-sense gun control legislation; 11 and 12 WHEREAS, Event sponsors are enlisting the support of 13 citizens, community law enforcement agencies, corporations and 14 congressional members in their campaign to stop the 15 proliferation of firearms; and
1 WHEREAS, The safety of our children and future generations 2 requires ongoing dedication to education and legislation 3 addressing the licensing of handgun owners, registration and 4 safety standards for all handguns, purchase limits and effective 5 law enforcement; therefore be it 6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize 7 "Million Mom March Mothers' Day 2000" on May 14, 2000.
