                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further defining "soldier."

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 7101 of Title 51 of the Pennsylvania
     6  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     7  § 7101.  Soldier defined.
     8     As used in this chapter, "soldier" means a person who served
     9  in the armed forces of the United States, or in any women's
    10  organization officially connected therewith, during any war or
    11  armed conflict in which the United States engaged, or who so


     1  served or hereafter serves in the armed forces of the United
     2  States, or in any women's organization officially connected
     3  therewith, since July 27, 1953, including service in Vietnam,
     4  and who has an honorable discharge from such service.
     5  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Civil
     6  Service Commission, in computing entitlements for soldiers under
     7  this chapter, shall conform and adhere strictly to the period-
     8  of-war service dates legislated by Congress or proclaimed by the
     9  President of the United States for Federal legislative purposes.
    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
