AN ACT 1 Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania 2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for advisory 3 councils for veterans' homes AND FOR PAY OF MEMBERS ON <-- 4 SPECIAL DUTY. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. Section 704(a) of Title 51 of the Pennsylvania <-- 8 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 9 SECTION 1. SECTIONS 704(A) AND 3101 OF TITLE 51 OF THE <-- 10 PENNSYLVANIA CONSOLIDATED STATUTES ARE AMENDED TO READ: 11 § 704. Advisory councils for veterans' homes. 12 (a) Establishment of advisory council.--There is hereby 13 established an advisory council for each veterans' home operated 14 by the Commonwealth. Each advisory council shall consist of [11] 15 15 members and the Adjutant General, who shall serve ex officio. 16 [Eight] Twelve of the members shall be appointed by the Governor 17 from a list of nominations submitted to the Adjutant General by
1 the Pennsylvania War Veterans' Council. The Speaker of the House 2 of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate 3 shall each appoint one member from their respective bodies to 4 serve on each council. The remaining member on the advisory 5 council shall be selected by the residents of the veterans' 6 homes. 7 * * * 8 § 3101. PAY OF OFFICERS AND ENLISTED PERSONNEL ON SPECIAL DUTY. <-- 9 [COMMISSIONED OFFICERS] MEMBERS OF THE PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL 10 GUARD OR PENNSYLVANIA GUARD MAY BE ORDERED UPON SPECIAL DUTY AT 11 THE DISCRETION OF THE GOVERNOR AND SHALL RECEIVE THE PAY AND 12 ALLOWANCES OF THEIR RESPECTIVE GRADES DURING THE TIME THEY MAY 13 CONTINUE UPON DUTY UNDER SUCH ORDER. 14 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. <-- 15 SECTION 2. THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT AS FOLLOWS: <-- 16 (1) THE AMENDMENT OF 51 PA.C.S. § 704 SHALL TAKE EFFECT 17 IN 60 DAYS. 18 (2) THE AMENDMENT OF 51 PA.C.S. § 3101 SHALL TAKE EFFECT 19 IMMEDIATELY. 20 (3) THE REMAINDER OF THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT 21 IMMEDIATELY.
