AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for professional sports plates; and 3 establishing the Stadium and Auditorium Fund. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 8 § 1360. Professional sports plates. 9 (a) General rule.--The department is authorized to enter 10 into agreements with representatives of the professional sports 11 leagues and associations who have member teams in this 12 Commonwealth, which shall include, but not be limited to, Major 13 League Baseball, the National Football League, the National 14 Hockey League and the National Basketball Association, to 15 provide for the license or legal contract necessary to develop 16 and design registration plates displaying the official insignia 17 of professional sports teams in this Commonwealth.
1 (b) Design of plates.--The department, in consultation with 2 the leagues or associations described in subsection (a), shall 3 design registration plates displaying the official insignia of 4 the professional teams in this Commonwealth. Upon application of 5 any person, accompanied by an initial fee of $40 which shall be 6 in addition to the annual registration fee plus a $10 annual fee 7 for retention of the sports plate, the department shall issue 8 the plate for a passenger car or other vehicle with a registered 9 gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds. 10 (c) Deposit of revenue.--All revenue collected under this 11 section shall be deposited in the Stadium and Auditorium Fund, 12 which fund is hereby established in the State Treasury, to 13 offset local costs of new stadium or sports auditorium 14 construction and maintenance. 15 (d) Rules and regulations.--The department shall adopt the 16 rules and regulations necessary to carry out this section. 17 Section 2.
