                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for the registration of leased
     3     vehicles.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 1305(c) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 1305.  Application for registration.
     9     * * *
    10     (c)  Designation of lessee as registrant.--The owner as
    11  lessor for any lease of 90 days or less may designate the lessee
    12  as the registrant of the vehicle and the name and address of the
    13  lessee may be substituted on the registration card for the
    14  address of the lessor. The owner as lessor for any lease of
    15  greater than 90 days shall designate both the owner and the
    16  lessee as coregistrants of the vehicle and the name and address


     1  of both the owner as lessor and the lessee must appear on the
     2  registration card. The department shall designate the
     3  relationship upon the card in a manner it deems appropriate.
     4  This subsection is applicable only for the period during which
     5  the lease remains in effect.

     7     Section 2.  This act shall apply to all leases entered into
     8  on or after January 1, 1998.
     9     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
