                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 9, 1987 (P.L.220, No.39), entitled "An
     2     act licensing and regulating the practice of social work;
     3     providing penalties; and making an appropriation," adding
     4     additional powers of sanction to the board.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 11(b) of the act of July 9, 1987
     8  (P.L.220, No.39), known as the Social Workers' Practice Act, is
     9  amended to read:
    10  Section 11.  Refusal, suspension and revocation of licenses.

    12     (b)  Board action.--When the board finds that the license or
    13  application for license of any person may be refused, revoked,
    14  restricted or suspended under the terms of subsection (a), the
    15  board may:
    16         (1)  Deny the application for a license.
    17         (2)  Administer a public reprimand.


     1         (3)  Revoke, suspend, limit or otherwise restrict a
     2     license as determined by the board.
     3         (4)  Require a licensee to submit to the care, counseling
     4     or treatment of a physician designated by the board.
     5         (5)  Suspend enforcement of its findings thereof and
     6     place a licensee on probation with the right to vacate the
     7     probationary order for noncompliance.
     8         (6)  Restore a suspended license to practice social work
     9     and impose any disciplinary or corrective measure which it
    10     might originally have imposed.
    11         (7)  Take such other action as the board in its
    12     discretion may deem proper, including precluding a suspended
    13     licensee from engaging in counseling or any other form of
    14     mental health practice.

    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
