                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 11, 1947 (P.L.565, No.248), entitled
     2     "An act providing compensation to certain persons who served
     3     in the military or naval forces of the United States or of
     4     any of her allies during World War II; providing the method
     5     of making payment to representatives of persons who, because
     6     of death or incapacity, cannot personally receive
     7     compensation; imposing certain duties on the Adjutant
     8     General; making an appropriation, and providing penalties,"
     9     extending the time during which applications may be filed for
    10     veterans' compensation.

    11     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    12  hereby enacts as follows:
    13     Section 1.  Section 5 of the act of June 11, 1947 (P.L.565,
    14  No.248), known as the World War II Veterans' Compensation Act,
    15  amended June 14, 1961 (P.L.370, No.203), is amended to read:
    16     Section 5.  Application for Compensation.--Application for
    17  compensation shall be made to the Adjutant General on such forms
    18  and in such manner as he shall prescribe.


     1     Applicants shall state on their application whether or not
     2  they have applied for or received a bonus, gratuity or
     3  compensation, of a nature similar to that provided for by this
     4  act, from any other state in the Union.
     5     All applications shall be made, (1) personally by the
     6  veteran, or (2) in case of death or mental incompetency
     7  preventing the making of a personal application, then by such
     8  representative of the veteran as the Adjutant General shall by
     9  regulation prescribe. An application made by a representative
    10  other than one authorized by such regulation shall be held void.
    11     The Adjutant General shall not accept or consider any
    12  application filed with him after the thirty-first day of
    13  December, one thousand nine hundred [sixty-two.] ninety-eight.
    14     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
