SENATE BILL

        AS REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, JUNE 17, 1996

                                     AN ACT

     1  Making appropriations from the Professional Licensure
     2     Augmentation Account and from restricted revenue accounts
     3     within the General Fund to the Department of State for use by
     4     the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs in
     5     support of the professional licensure boards assigned
     6     thereto.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The sum of $15,654,000 $15,396,000, or as much     <--
    10  thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the
    11  Professional Licensure Augmentation Account within the General
    12  Fund to the Department of State for the operation of the Bureau
    13  of Professional and Occupational Affairs, including the State
    14  Board of Auctioneer Examiners, for the fiscal year July 1, 1996,
    15  to June 30, 1997.
    16     Section 2.  (a)  The sum of $2,756,000, or as much thereof as
    17  may be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the restricted
    18  receipts account of the State Board of Medicine, as authorized


     1  by section 907(a) of the act of October 15, 1975 (P.L.390,
     2  No.111), known as the Health Care Services Malpractice Act, for
     3  the operation of the board for the fiscal year July 1, 1996, to
     4  June 30, 1997.
     5     (b)  The sum of $410,000, or as much thereof as may be
     6  necessary, is hereby appropriated from the restricted receipts
     7  account of the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine, as
     8  authorized by section 907(b) of the Health Care Services
     9  Malpractice Act, for the operation of the board for the fiscal
    10  year July 1, 1996, to June 30, 1997.
    11     (c)  The sum of $138,000, or as much thereof as may be
    12  necessary, is hereby appropriated from the restricted receipts
    13  account of the State Board of Podiatry, as authorized by section
    14  907(c) of the Health Care Services Malpractice Act, for the
    15  operation of said board for the fiscal year July 1, 1996, to
    16  June 30, 1997.
    17     (d)  The sum of $227,000 $224,000, or as much thereof as may   <--
    18  be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the Athletic
    19  Commission Augmentation Account for the State Athletic
    20  Commission, as authorized by 5 Pa.C.S. § 1512 (relating to
    21  Athletic Commission Augmentation Account), for the support and
    22  operation of the commission for the fiscal year July 1, 1996, to
    23  June 30, 1997.
    24     (e)  Each appropriation listed in subsections (a), (b), (c)
    25  and (d) shall not be treated as an augmentation to the
    26  Department of State, general government appropriation, or any
    27  other appropriation, but shall be treated and accounted for as
    28  separate appropriations respectively.
    29     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1996, or
    30  immediately, whichever is later.
