                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for retail theft.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Section 3929(b)(1) of Title 18 of the
     6  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a
     7  subparagraph to read:
     8  § 3929.  Retail theft.

    10     (b)  Grading.--
    11         (1)  Retail theft constitutes a:
    12             * * *
    13             (v)  Felony of the third degree when the amount
    14         involved exceeds $2,000 or if the merchandise involved is
    15         a firearm or a motor vehicle.

    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
