AN ACT
1 Requiring the Department of Environmental Resources to conduct a
2 study and issue a report of its tree harvesting practices in
3 State forests.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Study.
7 The Department of Environmental Resources shall conduct a
8 study of its tree harvesting practices in State forests.
9 Specifically, the study shall cover the following four areas:
10 (1) The allowable scientific cut in State forests.
11 (2) The actual annual timber cut.
12 (3) Methods and considerations to attain and maintain
13 the allowable scientific cut.
14 (4) The impact attaining the allowable scientific cut
15 would have on State revenues and job creation.
16 Section 2. Report.
1 Upon conclusion of its study, and not later than one year
2 after the effective date of this act, the Department of
3 Environmental Resources shall give the Business and Economic
4 Development Committee in the House of Representatives a complete
5 written report of its study, findings and recommendations.
6 Section 3. Effective date.
7 This act shall take effect immediately.
