AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 2, 1913 (P.L.396, No.267), entitled "An 2 act creating a Department of Labor and Industry; defining its 3 powers and duties; establishing an Industrial Board; 4 providing for the appointment of a Commissioner of Labor, 5 inspectors, statisticians, clerks, and others to enforce the 6 provisions of this act, and providing salaries for the same; 7 prescribing a standard of reasonable and adequate protection 8 to be observed in the rooms, buildings, and places where 9 labor is employed; empowering the said Industrial Board to 10 make, alter, amend, and repeal rules and regulations relating 11 thereto; transferring the powers and duties of the Department 12 of Factory Inspection to the Department of Labor and 13 Industry, and abolishing the Department of Factory 14 Inspection; and providing a penalty for the violation of the 15 provisions of this act, or the rules and regulations of the 16 said board," requiring safety bars, foot rests or safety 17 belts in aerial chair ski lifts. 18 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 19 hereby enacts as follows: 20 Section 1. The act of June 2, 1913 (P.L.396, No.267), 21 entitled "An act creating a Department of Labor and Industry; 22 defining its powers and duties; establishing an Industrial 23 Board; providing for the appointment of a Commissioner of Labor, 24 inspectors, statisticians, clerks, and others to enforce the 25 provisions of this act, and providing salaries for the same;
1 prescribing a standard of reasonable and adequate protection to 2 be observed in the rooms, buildings, and places where labor is 3 employed; empowering the said Industrial Board to make, alter, 4 amend, and repeal rules and regulations relating thereto; 5 transferring the powers and duties of the Department of Factory 6 Inspection to the Department of Labor and Industry, and 7 abolishing the Department of Factory Inspection; and providing a 8 penalty for the violation of the provisions of this act, or the 9 rules and regulations of the said board," is amended by adding a 10 section to read: 11 Section 13.1. Aerial Chair Ski Lifts.--(a) Each aerial 12 chair ski lift shall be equipped with a safety bar, foot rest or 13 safety belt, each of a type approved by the Department of Labor 14 and Industry. 15 (b) As used in this section, the term "aerial chair ski 16 lift" means a type of transportation in which passengers are 17 carried on chairs, attached to and suspended from a moving wire 18 rope or attached to a moving wire rope or chain and supported on 19 a standing wire rope or other structure. 20 Section 2.
