                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Congratulating Hershey Foods Corporation, a great American
     2     tradition, on its 100th Anniversary.

     3     WHEREAS, On February 9, 1994, Hershey Foods Corporation will
     4  kick off a yearlong celebration of its 100th Anniversary; and
     5     WHEREAS, Hershey Foods Corporation, headquartered in Hershey,
     6  Pennsylvania, a leading North American producer of chocolate,
     7  confectionery, grocery and pasta products, was established in
     8  Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1894 by Milton Snavely Hershey under
     9  the name of Hershey Chocolate Company. The name was changed in
    10  1968 to Hershey Foods Corporation to reflect the company's
    11  expanding product line; and
    12     WHEREAS, Hershey Chocolate U.S.A., the corporation's largest
    13  division, produces traditional American favorites, including

     1  Hershey's milk chocolate bar and Hershey's milk chocolate bar
     2  with almonds, Hershey's Kisses and Hershey's Kisses with Almonds
     3  chocolates, Hershey's cocoa, baking chocolate and syrup, Reese's
     4  peanut butter cups, Kit Kat wafer bars, Cadbury's products,
     5  Almond Joy candy bar, Mounds candy bar, York peppermint pattie
     6  and Twizzlers candy. Newer products include Hershey's Cookies
     7  'n' Mint chocolate bar, Amazin' Fruit gummy bears, Hershey's
     8  Hugs and Hershey's Hugs with Almonds chocolates and Reese's
     9  peanut butter in a jar; and
    10     WHEREAS, The products of Hershey Foods Corporation, its
    11  subsidiaries and licensees are distributed and exported to
    12  approximately 65 countries around the world. The company employs
    13  nearly 14,000 people and has licensees or manufacturing
    14  operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Japan,
    15  Korea, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium; and
    16     WHEREAS, The Hershey, Pennsylvania Plant of Hershey Chocolate
    17  U.S.A. is the largest chocolate and confectionery manufacturing
    18  facility in the world, with more than 2 million square feet of
    19  floor space; therefore be it
    20     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its
    21  congratulations and best wishes to Hershey Foods Corporation on
    22  the celebration of its 100th Anniversary.
