AN ACT
1 Amending the act of June 1, 1945 (P.L.1242, No.428), entitled
2 "An act relating to roads, streets, highways and bridges;
3 amending, revising, consolidating and changing the laws
4 administered by the Secretary of Highways and by the
5 Department of Highways relating thereto," further providing
6 for highway lighting.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 402.1 of the act of June 1, 1945
10 (P.L.1242, No.428), known as the State Highway Law, added May
11 31, 1957 (P.L.234, No.112), is amended to read:
12 Section 402.1. Highway Lighting.--The department may
13 construct, improve and thereafter maintain and repair equipment
14 for the lighting of existing or new highways, or any part
15 thereof, and may contract for the lighting of such equipment at
16 the expense of the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth shall also pay
17 fifty per centum of the cost of energizing highway lighting on
18 State highways.
19 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 90 days.
