                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
     2     act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
     3     welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for motivational
     4     boot camps for certain juvenile offenders.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
     8  as the Public Welfare Code, is amended by adding a section to
     9  read:
    10     Section 726.  Motivational Boot Camps.--(a)  The department
    11  shall contract with an agency or organization licensed by the
    12  department for the establishment of motivational boot camps for
    13  juvenile offenders found to be delinquent pursuant to 42 Pa.C.S.
    14  § 6341(b) (relating to finding of delinquency).
    15     (b)  The boot camps shall provide for rigorous physical
    16  activity, intensive regimentation and discipline, substance

     1  abuse treatment and educational and vocational training.
     2     (c)  The department shall promulgate regulations for the
     3  operation of boot camps for juvenile offenders which shall
     4  include standards of conduct for staff to insure humane
     5  programming and prohibit the use of excessive force.
     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
