AN ACT
1 Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, providing for abuse of patient.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
7 § 2713. Abuse of patient.
8 A person commits a misdemeanor of the second degree if the
9 person, being a nurse, attendant or medical care worker, abuses
10 a patient. The term "abuse" includes attempting to cause or
11 intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury or
12 such indignity to the person of the patient as would offend the
13 sensibilities of a reasonable person.
14 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
