        ADOPTED, OCTOBER 22, 1991

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of November 24 through 30, 1991, as
     2     "National Family Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The home is the foundation of all society. That
     4  which strengthens the home contributes to a stronger community
     5  and, in turn, a stronger nation; and
     6     WHEREAS, As the most effective school of human virtue, no
     7  other institution can adequately replace the responsibility of
     8  parents to rear and teach their children, instructing them in
     9  the principles of truth, wholesome living and civic
    10  responsibility; and
    11     WHEREAS, Within the home, affectionate family relationships
    12  are fostered through caring communication and the shared
    13  struggle of meeting the challenges of life together. Celebrating
    14  family traditions together and building positive family memories


     1  help each member grow and find greater success in their
     2  individual "pursuit of happiness"; and
     3     WHEREAS, A developing child has the right to feel that his
     4  home is a secure place of refuge where he will be nurtured,
     5  protected and never harmed; therefore be it
     6     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     7  week of November 24 through 30, 1991, as "National Family Week"
     8  in Pennsylvania, and encourage families to renew their
     9  commitment to the life-long effort of developing stable and
    10  happy homes.
