AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," prohibiting family members from being
6 employed by a community college while an immediate family
7 member is serving on the board of trustees.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 1901-A of the act of March 10, 1949
11 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
12 amended by adding a definition to read:
13 Section 1901-A. Definitions.--The following words and
14 phrases, as used in this article, shall, unless a different
15 meaning is plainly required by the context, have the following
16 meaning:

18 (11) "Immediate family" shall mean a parent, spouse, child,
19 brother or sister, nephew or niece.
20 Section 2. Section 1905-A of the act is amended by adding a
1 subsection to read:
2 Section 1905-A. Powers and Duties of Board of Trustees.--* *

4 (e) Immediate family members of a trustee shall not be hired
5 by a community college, in any capacity, during the trustee's
6 tenure as a member of the board of trustees.
7 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
