                                     AN ACT

     1  Requiring certain institutions of higher education to accept the
     2     credits of transferring students.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Definitions.
     6     The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
     7  have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
     8  context clearly indicates otherwise:
     9     "Community colleges."  Institutions heretofore created
    10  pursuant to the act of August 24, 1963 (P.L.1132, No.484), known
    11  as the Community College Act of 1963, or now or hereafter
    12  created pursuant to Article XIX-A of the act of March 10, 1949
    13  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949.
    14     "Institutions of higher education."  Community colleges,
    15  State-owned institutions and State-related institutions.
    16     "State-owned institutions."  Those institutions which are


     1  part of the State System of Higher Education pursuant to the act
     2  of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177, No.175), known as The Administrative
     3  Code of 1929.
     4     "State-related institutions."  The Pennsylvania State
     5  University, the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University and
     6  Lincoln University and their branch campuses.
     7  Section 2.  Transfer of credits.
     8     When a student transfers to an institution of higher
     9  education, that institution of higher education shall accept at
    10  full value the credits received by the student at any other
    11  institution of higher education located in Pennsylvania.
    12  Section 3.  Effective date.
    13     This act shall take effect immediately.
