                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," requiring certain employees to give
     6     public notice of their intention to strike.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
    10  as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
    11  section to read:
    12     Section 1501.6.  Public Notice.--Strikes by employes of
    13  school districts, intermediate units and area vocational-
    14  technical schools as authorized by the act of July 23, 1970
    15  (P.L.563, No.195), known as the "Public Employe Relations Act,"
    16  shall only be permitted after the bargaining unit has given
    17  notice of the strike to the president of the board of directors,
    18  to two (2) newspapers of general circulation and to two (2)


     1  radio and television stations broadcasting within that district,
     2  intermediate unit and vocational-technical school enrollment
     3  area, at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the commencement
     4  of the strike. In a district, intermediate unit or area
     5  vocational-technical school attendance area where no such
     6  newspaper is published, a notice may be posted in at least five
     7  (5) public places.
     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
