                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, authorizing dealers of motor carrier vehicles and
     3     designated agents of the Department of Transportation to be
     4     agents for the Department of Revenue for certain purposes
     5     relating to the motor carrier road tax identification marker.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 2102(c) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     9  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
    10  § 2102.  Identification markers required.

    12     (c)  Issuance of markers.--
    13         (1)  Identification markers shall be issued on a 12-month
    14     basis, effective April 1 of each year, and shall be valid
    15     through the next succeeding March 31; however, enforcement of
    16     this section shall not become effective until April 15 of
    17     each year as to motor carrier vehicles displaying the
    18     previous year's identification marker.
    19         (2)  The Department of Revenue shall have the power and

     1     may designate dealers of motor carrier vehicles and
     2     designated agents of the department located within this
     3     Commonwealth to act as agents for the Department of Revenue
     4     for the purpose of collecting the fee under subsection (b),
     5     processing the necessary papers and issuing a temporary
     6     permit to authorize the operation of a motor carrier vehicle
     7     pending issuance of a permanent identification marker by the
     8     department.

    10     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 180 days.
