A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the long service of the State YMCA Youth and 2 Government Program in fostering and promoting understanding 3 of our democratic system of government. 4 WHEREAS, The legislative process has been a cornerstone of 5 government in this Commonwealth; and 6 WHEREAS, The legislature and other aspects of our democratic 7 government require an alert and informed citizenry; and 8 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania YMCA Youth and Government Program 9 has fostered an expansive, hands-on method of participatory 10 awareness for more than 40 years; and 11 WHEREAS, The Youth and Government Program involves more than 12 350 secondary school students from all corners of this 13 Commonwealth; and 14 WHEREAS, The Youth and Government Program culminates in a 15 three-day Model Legislature and Administrative Convention at 16 Harrisburg each year; and 17 WHEREAS, The Model Legislature and Administrative Convention 18 program replicates virtually every aspect of a typical day in
1 State government, including legislative debate, gubernatorial 2 functions, media coverage and lobbying activities; therefore be 3 it 4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its 5 deepest congratulations to the State YMCA for its continuing 6 implementation of the Youth and Government Program; and be it 7 further 8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives offer its warmest 9 welcome to the participants in the YMCA Model Legislature and 10 Administrative Convention which convenes in the Capitol Complex 11 on April 20, 21 and 22, 1990.
