A RESOLUTION 1 Requesting the professional sports teams within this 2 Commonwealth to postpone their scheduled games on Good 3 Friday. 4 WHEREAS, Good Friday is the most solemn religious day of the 5 year for most citizens of this Commonwealth; and 6 WHEREAS, People of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have a 7 strong desire to observe their holy days with a special 8 conviction regarding Good Friday; and 9 WHEREAS, Good Friday is a time of fasting, sacrifice and 10 prayer; and 11 WHEREAS, Most employers, civic groups, organizations and 12 institutions go to great lengths in order to allow the people of 13 this Commonwealth to mourn the crucifixion and ultimate 14 sacrifice of Jesus Christ; and 15 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has also taken
1 great lengths to allow its residents to observe this most holy 2 day and has always made great efforts to preserve and protect 3 the sanctity and freedom of religion; therefore be it 4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives request that the 5 Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies respect the 6 holiness of Good Friday by postponing their opening day games; 7 and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia 9 Flyers respect the holiness of Good Friday by postponing their 10 tentative play-off games.
