A RESOLUTION
1 Designating April 1990 as "Pennsylvania Organ and Tissue Donor
2 Month."
3 WHEREAS, Organ and tissue transplant has been recognized as a
4 corrective and lifesaving medical procedure; and
5 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has 12 transplant
6 centers and is recognized as a world leader in organ and tissue
7 transplant; and
8 WHEREAS, A vital component of the continuation and
9 advancement of organ transplants is the retrieval of donor
10 organs and tissue; and
11 WHEREAS, Improved surgical techniques and drugs to offset
12 rejection of organs have resulted in a high success rate; and
13 WHEREAS, Those in need of transplants far exceed the number
1 of organs and amount of tissue available; therefore be it
2 RESOLVED, That the month of April 1990 be designated as
3 "Pennsylvania Organ and Tissue Donor Month"; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
5 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania encourage all Pennsylvanians to
6 carry donor cards, and encourage family members and friends to
7 carry donor cards.
