AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for drivers' licenses of persons 3 16, 17 and 18 years of age. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 8 § 1553. Student attendance required. 9 (a) Prerequisite for permit.--All school students 16, 17 or 10 18 years of age shall be in good standing, as determined by the 11 school in accordance with guidelines established by the 12 Department of Education, in order to obtain a learner's permit. 13 (b) Maintaining license.--All school students 16, 17 or 18 14 years of age who obtain a driver's license after the effective 15 date of this section must be in good standing, as provided for 16 in subsection (a), in order to maintain their drivers' licenses. 17 (c) Notification by school.--Each school shall notify the
1 department when any student who has a permit or license is not 2 in good standing as provided for in subsection (a). 3 (d) Suspension of license.--The department shall suspend the 4 permit or license of any school student 16, 17 or 18 years of 5 age who is not in good standing, has a truancy problem or has 6 voluntarily withdrawn. 7 Section 2.
