AN ACT
1 Authorizing police departments to hold raffles.
2 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
3 hereby enacts as follows:
4 Section 1. Definitions.
5 The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
6 have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
7 context clearly indicates otherwise:
8 "Raffle." That game of chance where the tickets or stubs of
9 tickets sold are drawn at random for the awarding of prizes.
10 Section 2. Raffles authorized.
11 Any municipal police department may hold a raffle for the
12 purpose of raising money for the purchase of police equipment
13 and the construction or improvement of police department
14 buildings and other facilities. All money received from the sale
15 of tickets, less the cost of prizes, shall be used for this
16 purpose.
17 Section 3. Effective date.
1 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
