AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for costs of certain traffic-
3 control devices.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 6122 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
8 § 6122. Authority to erect traffic-control devices.

10 (e) Costs.--The cost of traffic-control signals located on
11 State-designated highways shall be borne by the Commonwealth. At
12 intersections of State-designated highways and local roads, the
13 cost of traffic-control signals shall be borne by the
14 Commonwealth and the local authorities having jurisdiction over
15 the local road, each paying one-half of the cost, but local
16 authorities may, at their option, pay more than their half of
17 the cost. As used in this subsection, the term "cost of traffic-
1 control signal" means the purchase price of a traffic-control
2 signal, the cost of erecting it and the cost of maintaining it.
3 Section 2. This act shall be applicable to the maintenance
4 costs of traffic-control devices which are in existence on the
5 effective date of this act.
6 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
