                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
     2     act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
     3     welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for the
     4     eligibility of State blind pension recipients for medical
     5     assistance.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Sections 441.1 and 509 of the act of June 13,
     9  1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known as the Public Welfare Code, amended
    10  or added July 31, 1968 (P.L.904, No.273), are amended to read:
    11     Section 441.1.  Persons Eligible for Medical Assistance.--The
    12  following persons shall be eligible for medical assistance:
    13     (1)  Persons who receive or are eligible to receive cash
    14  assistance grants under this article;
    15     (2)  Persons who meet the eligibility requirements of this
    16  article for cash assistance grants except for citizenship,
    17  durational residence and any eligibility condition or other
    18  requirement for cash assistance which is prohibited under Title
    19  XIX of the Federal Social Security Act; [and]

     1     (3)  The medically needy; and
     2     (4)  Persons who meet the eligibility requirements of Article
     3  V for State Blind Pensions.
     4     Section 509.  Medical Assistance and Burial.--(a)  Persons
     5  receiving State Blind Pensions shall be eligible for burial
     6  assistance and, under the medical assistance program of Article
     7  IV, for payment of home and office visits of physicians or
     8  chiropractors, institutional care, prescribed drugs, dental
     9  care, vision care provided by a physician skilled in diseases of
    10  the eye or by an optometrist, ambulance service and visiting
    11  nurse service.
    12     (b)  Persons receiving State Blind Pensions shall be eligible
    13  for all medical assistance as are afforded under this act to
    14  persons receiving supplemental security income under Title XVI
    15  of the Federal Social Security Act.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
