                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 6, 1984 (P.L.614, No.127), entitled "An
     2     act establishing the fees to be charged and received by
     3     sheriffs," further providing for settlement and staying of
     4     writs.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 7 of the act of July 6, 1984 (P.L.614,
     8  No.127), known as the Sheriff Fee Act, is amended to read:
     9  Section 7.  Settlement or staying of writs.
    10     For the settlement or staying by the plaintiff of a writ
    11  relating to property, execution not being concluded, the sheriff
    12  shall receive the same fees for receiving, docketing and
    13  returning, levying, advertising and performing other functions
    14  enumerated in this act, [including commission as would be
    15  chargeable if the sale had been made upon the writ, on the
    16  amount paid to settle or stay the writ,] whether the sum is paid
    17  to the sheriff or to the plaintiff or a compromise is made
    18  between plaintiff and defendant for the future payment to


     1  satisfy the writ.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
