AN ACT 1 Amending the act of July 10, 1986 (P.L.1914, No.12A), entitled 2 "A supplement to the act of July 28, 1966 (3rd Sp.Sess., 3 P.L.87, No.3), entitled 'An act providing for the 4 establishment and operation of the University of Pittsburgh 5 as an instrumentality of the Commonwealth to serve as a 6 State-related university in the higher education system of 7 the Commonwealth; providing for change of name; providing for 8 the composition of the board of trustees; terms of trustees, 9 and the power and duties of such trustees; authorizing 10 appropriations in amounts to be fixed annually by the General 11 Assembly; providing for the auditing of accounts of 12 expenditures from said appropriations; providing for public 13 support and capital improvements; authorizing the issuance of 14 bonds exempt from taxation within the Commonwealth; requiring 15 the chancellor to make an annual report of the operations of 16 the University of Pittsburgh,' making appropriations for 17 carrying the same into effect; providing for a basis for 18 payments of such appropriations; and providing a method of 19 accounting for the funds appropriated," increasing the 20 appropriation for educational and general expenses. 21 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 22 hereby enacts as follows: 23 Section 1. Section 1 of the act of July 10, 1986 (P.L.1914, 24 No.12A), entitled "A supplement to the act of July 28, 1966 (3rd 25 Sp.Sess., P.L.87, No.3), entitled 'An act providing for the 26 establishment and operation of the University of Pittsburgh as
1 an instrumentality of the Commonwealth to serve as a State- 2 related university in the higher education system of the 3 Commonwealth; providing for change of name; providing for the 4 composition of the board of trustees; terms of trustees, and the 5 power and duties of such trustees; authorizing appropriations in 6 amounts to be fixed annually by the General Assembly; providing 7 for the auditing of accounts of expenditures from said 8 appropriations; providing for public support and capital 9 improvements; authorizing the issuance of bonds exempt from 10 taxation within the Commonwealth; requiring the chancellor to 11 make an annual report of the operations of the University of 12 Pittsburgh,' making appropriations for carrying the same into 13 effect; providing for a basis for payments of such 14 appropriations; and providing a method of accounting for the 15 funds appropriated," is amended to read: 16 Section 1. The following sums, or as much thereof as may be 17 necessary, are hereby appropriated to the Trustees of the 18 University of Pittsburgh for the fiscal year July 1, 1986, to 19 June 30, 1987, for the purpose and in the amounts as shown: 20 (1) For educational and general expenses and 21 for participation by a representative of the 22 institution, appointed by the chief executive 23 officer thereof, as a member of the Pennsylvania 24 Academic Commission on Technological Development, 25 a commission for interinstitutional communication 26 regarding technological innovation and development 27 and for dissemination of information on such 28 matters to the Pennsylvania business community and 29 others who may use such information for new 30 business and job development in Pennsylvania, such 19870H1402B1637 - 2 -
1 commission to be composed of representatives of
2 every State-owned or State-related educational or
3 scientific institution receiving General Fund
