                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing a criminal penalty
     3     for activities by unlicensed brokers; and requiring a public
     4     information program on brokerage licenses.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 2505 of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
     9  § 2505.  Licenses and financial responsibility required of
    10             brokers.

    12     (e)  Penalty.--A person who violates this section commits a
    13  misdemeanor of the third degree and shall, upon conviction for a
    14  first offense, be sentenced to a fine not to exceed $1,000 or to
    15  imprisonment of not more than six months, or both, and, upon
    16  conviction of a second offense, be sentenced to a fine not to
    17  exceed $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term of six months to one
    18  year, or both.


     1     Section 2.   Title 66 is amended by adding a section to read:
     2  § 2510.  Information to the public.
     3     The commission shall establish a program to assure extensive
     4  continuing publicity for the provisions of this chapter,
     5  specifically with respect to the need for broker licensing.
     6     Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
