A RESOLUTION 1 Proclaiming the week of April 20 through April 26, 1986, as 2 "Victim Rights Week." 3 WHEREAS, Thirty-seven million Americans become victims of 4 crime each year in the United States; and 5 WHEREAS, The citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who 6 become victims of crime often suffer serious financial, physical 7 and emotional injury; and 8 WHEREAS, It is fair and just that victims of crime receive 9 assistance and compensation to help lessen the burden of these 10 injuries; and 11 WHEREAS, In Pennsylvania and elsewhere, both new and well- 12 established service programs for crime victims face a threat of 13 having fewer resources as a result of Federal deficit-reduction 14 efforts; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 16 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania proclaim the week of April 20 17 through April 26, 1986, as "Victim Rights Week"; and be it
1 further 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all citizens 3 and institutions, public and private, to support the 4 establishment and enforcement of victim rights in Pennsylvania 5 through participation in State and local activities 6 commemorating those rights; and further urge them to assist 7 their local programs of victim assistance in every appropriate 8 way to continue and expand their mission to help victims of 9 crime.
