        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, DECEMBER 4, 1985

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency
     2     to prohibit the incineration of PCB waste materials in
     3     special vessels in the Atlantic Ocean off the New Jersey
     4     coast.

     5     WHEREAS, The Environmental Protection Agency recently
     6  proposed to permit the incineration of PCB waste materials in
     7  special ships in the Atlantic Ocean off the New Jersey coast;
     8  and
     9     WHEREAS, The potential for serious environmental hazards has
    10  not been eliminated and there is the possibility of ocean
    11  contamination or rain-carried contamination reaching from
    12  Virginia to Ohio, Maine and Canada, thereby affecting large
    13  numbers of individuals; and
    14     WHEREAS, PCB is a well-known and well-documented carcinogen;
    15  therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
    17  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of the
    18  United States and the Environmental Protection Agency to


     1  prohibit the incineration of PCB waste materials in the Atlantic
     2  Ocean; and be it further
     3     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
     4  the presiding officers of each house of Congress, to each member
     5  of Congress from Pennsylvania and to the Administrator of the
     6  Environmental Protection Agency.
