                                     AN ACT

     1  Making an appropriation to the Department of Community Affairs
     2     for grants to cities, boroughs, towns and townships for
     3     neighborhood crime watch programs.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The sum of $1,300,000, or as much thereof as may
     7  be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the Department of
     8  Community Affairs for grants to cities, boroughs, towns and
     9  townships of this Commonwealth for neighborhood crime watch
    10  programs. The Department of Community Affairs shall solicit and
    11  receive applications from cities, boroughs, towns and townships
    12  for such grants in such form and manner as it may prescribe. No
    13  grant shall exceed $500. Funds received pursuant to this act may
    14  be used for signs, communication equipment, organization startup
    15  costs and other appropriate uses relating to neighborhood crime
    16  watch programs as determined by the local governing body.

     1     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1986, or
     2  immediately, whichever is later.
