AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for temporary
6 hiring of certain applicants prior to background checks.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 111 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
10 No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by
11 adding a subsection to read:
12 Section 111. Background Checks of Prospective Employes.--* *

14 (e.1) An administrator may temporarily hire an applicant who
15 has not submitted a report pursuant to subsection (b) or (c) if
16 the inability to hire the person would inhibit the provision of
17 services to children within the school or intermediate unit. In
18 such instances, the person shall be required to apply for the
19 report immediately upon employment. The person shall be
1 immediately discharged if the report contains information
2 specified in subsection (d) or (e).
