                                     AN ACT

1 Declaring and adopting the song "A Man Can be Proud," lyrics and
2 music by Margarite Romagna as the State song of the
     3 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Official State song.
7 The song "A Man Can be Proud," lyrics and music by Margarite
8 Romagna, is hereby adopted as the State song of Pennsylvania and
9 shall be the official song for all public purposes. The lyrics
    10 are as follows:
11 A Man Can Be Proud
    12 From the Allegheny Mountains
    13 down to Philadelphy,
    14 There's a glory and a beauty
15 in Pennsylvania you can see.
16 In the forests and the pastures
17 and the rivers rushing by,
18 The greenness of the mountains,

1 the blueness of her sky.
2 From the strength of her steel mills
3 to her gentle growing corn,
4 A man can be proud
     5 who is Pennsylvania born.
6 Men have hunted in her forests,
     7 fished her flowing streams,
8 Men have lived their lives in fullness
     9 fulfilling all their dreams.
10 Brave battles fought at Valley Forge
11 helped freedom ring a bell,
12 And battles fought at Gettysburg
    13 equality would tell.
    14 Pennsylvania builds ships
15 to sail the seven seas,
16 Grows food across her land
    17 the nations to please.
    18 And I can say I'm proud,
    19 I'm Pennsylvania born,
20 An I'll awake to see her sunrise
21 when I arise tomorrow morn.
    22 Section 2. Effective date.
23 This act shall take effect immediately.
