AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, authorizing additional chaperons on school buses.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 1343 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
6 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
7 § 1343. Use of school bus plates.
8 (a) General rule.--A motor vehicle bearing school bus
9 registration plates shall be used exclusively for the
10 transportation of children and no more than [five] ten chaperons
11 to or from public, private, parochial or Sunday school or in
12 connection with any public, private, parochial or Sunday school-
13 related activity. Except when transporting children to and from
14 public, private, parochial or Sunday school or public, private,
15 parochial or Sunday school-related activities, the words "school
16 bus" on the front and rear of the vehicle shall be concealed and
17 the red and amber visual signals shall not be operable.
1 (b) Penalty.--Any person violating this section is guilty of
2 a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to
3 pay a fine of $25.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
