AN ACT
1 Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled "An
2 act concerning townships of the second class; and amending,
3 revising, consolidating, and changing the law relating
4 thereto," providing for regulating the installation and
5 operation of fire and burglar alarm systems or other
6 automatic protection devices; and for recovering costs of
7 answering false fire alarms.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 702 of the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103,
11 No.69), known as The Second Class Township Code, reenacted and
12 amended July 10, 1947 (P.L.1481, No.567), is amended by adding
13 clauses to read:
14 Section 702. Supervisors to Exercise Powers.--The corporate
15 powers of townships of the second class shall be exercised by
16 the township supervisors. Where no specific authority is given
17 for the expenditures incident to the exercise of any power
18 hereinafter conferred, or where no specific fund is designated
19 from which such expenditures shall be made, appropriations for
20 such expenditures shall be made only from the general township
1 fund. In addition to the duties imposed upon them by section 516
2 hereof, they shall have power--

4 LXXV. Fire and Burglar Alarm Systems.--To regulate the
5 installation and operation of automatic protection devices such
6 as, for example, fire and burglar alarm systems.
7 LXXVI. False Fire Alarms.--To recover from persons convicted
8 under 18 Pa.C.S. § 4905 (relating to false alarms to agencies of
9 public safety), the costs, not to exceed one hundred dollars
10 ($100) per alarm, incurred by townships as a result of answering
11 the false alarms.
12 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
