AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for special plates for recipients of the
3 Purple Heart; AND IMPOSING LIMITATIONS ON CERTAIN REDUCED <--
4 REGISTRATION RECIPIENTS.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
9 § 1346. Special plates for recipients of Purple Heart.
10 Upon application of any person who is a recipient of the
11 Purple Heart, the department shall issue to such person a
12 special registration plate designating the vehicle so licensed
13 as belonging to a person who is a recipient of the Purple Heart.
14 A disabled veteran, as described in section 1342(a) (relating to
15 veteran plates and placard), who is qualified to receive a plate
16 under this section may also elect to receive a placard under
17 section 1342(b). THE SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATE MAY BE USED ONLY <--
1 ON ONE PASSENGER VEHICLE OR ONE OTHER VEHICLE WITH A REGISTERED
2 GROSS WEIGHT OF NOT MORE THAN 9,000 POUNDS.
3 SECTION 2. SECTION 1901(D) OF TITLE 75 IS AMENDED TO READ:
4 § 1901. EXEMPTION OF ENTITIES AND VEHICLES FROM FEES.

6 (D) LIMITATIONS.--
7 (1) VEHICLES TITLED AND REGISTERED UNDER THE PROVISIONS
8 OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE OPERATED AND USED EXCLUSIVELY FOR
9 THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE VEHICLES WERE ENTITLED TO THE
10 EXEMPTIONS FROM FEES.
11 (2) ONLY ONE PASSENGER VEHICLE OR ONE OTHER VEHICLE WITH
12 A GROSS WEIGHT OR REGISTERED GROSS WEIGHT OF NOT MORE THAN
13 9,000 POUNDS MAY BE REGISTERED TO ANY PERSON UNDER THE
14 PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (B)(4) AND SUBSECTION (C)(16) [AND
15 (17)], (17), (18) AND (19).
