AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for special plates.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
6 Statutes is amended by adding sections to read:
7 § 1342.1. National Guard plate.
8 On the application of a member of the Pennsylvania National
9 Guard, whose membership in the Pennsylvania National Guard is
10 certified by the Department of Military Affairs, the department
11 shall issue a special registration plate designating the vehicle
12 as belonging to a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. The
13 registration plate shall have a white background, shall have
14 blue numbers or letters as the department may determine preceded
15 by the letters "NG" and shall have the words "NATIONAL GUARD" in
16 at least ten-point bold type inscribed in red at the bottom of
17 the plate. The special registration plate may be used only on
1 one passenger vehicle or one other vehicle with a registered
2 gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds.
3 § 1342.2. United States Armed Forces Reserve plate.
4 On the application of an active member of the United States
5 Armed Forces Reserves, whose membership is certified by the
6 member's commanding officer, the department shall issue a
7 special registration plate for each of the reserve forces
8 designating the vehicle as belonging to a member of the Army
9 Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve
10 or Coast Guard Reserve. The registration plate shall have a
11 white background, shall have blue numbers or letters as the
12 department may determine and shall have the words "Army
13 Reserve," "Navy Reserve," "AF Reserve," "USMC Reserve" or "CG
14 Reserve," as appropriate, in at least ten-point bold type
15 inscribed in red at the bottom of the plate. The special
16 registration plate may be used only on one passenger vehicle or
17 one other vehicle with a registered gross weight of not more
18 than 9,000 pounds.
19 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
