A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 Memorializing Congress to oppose Federal legislation relating to 2 illegal aliens. 3 WHEREAS, The United States Congress is presently debating 4 legislation to extend welfare benefits to over a million illegal 5 aliens; and 6 WHEREAS, The estimated cost to the government of this 7 legislation is 13.8 billion dollars; and 8 WHEREAS, There is also legislation on the floor which would 9 offer permanent or temporary residency status to certain illegal 10 aliens; and 11 WHEREAS, The funds would be better spent to provide relief 12 from the unemployment compensation debt that Pennsylvania and 13 other states owe; and 14 WHEREAS, Many find it outrageous that funds be spent in this 15 fashion, with so many United States citizens and Commonwealth 16 residents unemployed; therefore be it 17 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
1 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the Congress of 2 the United States to oppose these measures; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to 4 the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each 5 member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
