AN ACT 1 Making an appropriation from a restricted revenue account within 2 the General Fund to the Department of State for use by the 3 Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. The sum of $6,411,000, or as much thereof as may <-- 7 be necessary, is hereby appropriated from the professional 8 licensure augmentation restricted revenue account within the 9 General Fund to the Department of State for the fiscal year July 10 1, 1983 to June 30, 1984 for the operation of the Bureau of 11 Professional and Occupational Affairs excluding attorneys. 12 Section 2. (a) The sum of $681,000 is hereby appropriated 13 from the professional licensure augmentation restricted revenue 14 account within the General Fund to the Department of State for 15 the fiscal year July 1, 1983 to June 30, 1984 for the personnel 16 costs of the attorneys of the Bureau of Professional and 17 Occupational Affairs.
1 (b) This appropriation, in addition to covering existing 2 personnel costs, shall be used to upgrade the status of existing 3 attorneys, hire additional attorneys and take any steps 4 necessary to provide the professional boards with adequate 5 council and prosecutorial staff to handle all complaints on a 6 timely basis. 7 (c) No attorney shall be hired by the bureau unless the 8 attorney has prior experience or unless the attorney is 9 contracted to provide a minimum of three years service to the 10 bureau. 11 Section 3. No funds from the appropriations in sections 1 12 and 2 shall be used to augment the Department of State, general 13 government operations budget for any services previously 14 provided by the department without augmentation. 15 Section 4. The Department of State shall establish separate 16 appropriation symbols for the Bureau of Professional and 17 Occupational Affairs and for the attorneys of the Bureau of 18 Professional and Occupational Affairs. 19 Section 5. This act shall take effect July 1, 1983 or, if 20 enacted subsequent to that date, then immediately. 21 SECTION 1. THE SUM OF $7,266,000, OR AS MUCH THEREOF AS MAY <-- 22 BE NECESSARY, IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FROM THE PROFESSIONAL 23 LICENSURE AUGMENTATION RESTRICTED REVENUE ACCOUNT WITHIN THE 24 GENERAL FUND TO THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 25 1, 1983 TO JUNE 30, 1984 TO AUGMENT THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT 26 APPROPRIATION FOR THE OPERATION OF THE BUREAU OF PROFESSIONAL 27 AND OCCUPATIONAL AFFAIRS. 28 SECTION 2.
