           JUNE 30, 1983

                                     AN ACT

     1  Making an appropriation to the Pennsylvania College of
     2     Optometry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  The sum of $905,000 is hereby appropriated to the
     6  Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
     7  for the fiscal year July 1, 1983 to June 30, 1984, for
     8  instruction AND FOR PARTICIPATION BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE      <--
     9  INSTITUTION, APPOINTED BY THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER THEREOF,
    10  AS A MEMBER OF THE PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMIC COMMISSION ON
    11  TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT, A COMMISSION FOR INTER-INSTITUTIONAL
    12  COMMUNICATION REGARDING TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT
    13  AND FOR DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON SUCH MATTERS TO THE
    14  PENNSYLVANIA BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND OTHERS WHO MAY USE SUCH
    15  INFORMATION FOR NEW BUSINESS AND JOB DEVELOPMENT IN
    16  PENNSYLVANIA, SUCH COMMISSION TO BE COMPOSED OF REPRESENTATIVES
    17  OF EVERY STATE-OWNED OR STATE-RELATED EDUCATIONAL OR SCIENTIFIC

     1  INSTITUTION RECEIVING GENERAL FUND ASSISTANCE FROM THE
     2  COMMONWEALTH.
     3     Section 2.  Payments to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry
     4  on account of the appropriation provided in section 1 shall be
     5  made quarterly by the Secretary of Education on the basis of
     6  costs during the fiscal year.
     7     Section 3.  The Pennsylvania College of Optometry shall
     8  provide such information and in such form and manner as the
     9  Department of Education may prescribe.
    10     Section 4.  The Pennsylvania College of Optometry shall
    11  report its revenues and expenditures and present its financial
    12  statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting
    13  principles and procedures for educational institutions as set
    14  forth in the "Higher Education Finance Manual of 1975," without
    15  exception.
    16     Section 5.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1983 or, if
    17  enacted subsequent to that date, then immediately.
