AN ACT
1 Providing for the observance of the Sunday of Fire Prevention
2 Week as a commemorative day designated as Firefighters and
3 their Auxiliaries Day.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. In recognition of the invaluable services
7 performed by over a half million firefighters and the similar
8 contributions made by their auxiliaries, the Sunday of the week
9 designated by the Governor as Fire Prevention Week shall be
10 Firefighters and their Auxiliaries Day. It is set aside to
11 commemorate the tireless efforts of those dedicated men and
12 women who brave incredible dangers so that all the citizenry can
13 lead fruitful lives without fear of the devastating consequences
14 of fire.
15 Section 2. The Governor may SHALL issue a proclamation each <--
16 year calling upon all Pennsylvanians to commemorate the too
17 often unheralded gallantry and personal sacrifices of
18 firefighters and their auxiliaries and to observe that day with
1 appropriate honors, ceremonies and prayers.
2 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
