           FEBRUARY 18, 1981

        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, FEBRUARY 18, 1981

                      In the House of Representatives, February 18, 1981

     1     WHEREAS, The price of natural gas to consumers has risen to a
     2  considerable extent in recent years; and
     3     WHEREAS, Gas company profits have also increased to a
     4  considerable extent; and
     5     WHEREAS, The regulation of natural gas prices has apparently
     6  not had the detrimental effect on the profitability of the
     7  natural gas industry as this industry has claimed; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Federal Government is deregulating the price of
     9  natural gas over the next several years; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
    11  of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby memorializes the
    12  President and the Congress of the United States to immediately
    13  desist from natural gas price deregulation until such time as
    14  inflation has been brought under control; and be it further
    15     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be forwarded
    16  immediately to the President of the United States, to the


     1  Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate
     2  and to each Representative and Senator from Pennsylvania.
