In the House of Representatives, February 10, 1981 1 WHEREAS, The people of Poland, mindful of their motto, "Our 2 freedom is your freedom," have sought liberty for themselves, 3 other people and especially the citizens of the United States 4 through persons such as Generals Kosciuszko and Pulaski; and 5 WHEREAS, The people of Poland, united in the Solidarity 6 Independent Trade Union, are dramatically and peacefully 7 struggling for the right of collective bargaining; and 8 WHEREAS, The farmers and laborers of Poland are striving for 9 a humanistic and spiritual way of life, which is counter to 10 Soviet ideology; and 11 WHEREAS, The Polanders are suffering from food shortages and 12 economic deprivation; therefore be it 13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 14 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorializes the President and the 15 Congress of the United States to support the people of Poland;
1 and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That the President of the United States give aid to 3 the people of Poland, especially in the United Nations; and be 4 it further 5 RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House of 6 Representatives is directed to transmit copies of this 7 resolution to the President of the United States and the 8 presiding officers of the House of Representatives and Senate of 9 the Congress of the United States of America and to each member 10 of Congress from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
