AN ACT
1 Amending the act of October 20, 1966 (3rd Sp.Sess., P.L.96,
2 No.6), entitled "An act relating to mental health and mental
3 retardation; authorizing county programs and amending,
4 revising and changing the laws relating thereto and making an
5 appropriation," providing for the purpose of the act.
6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7 hereby enacts as follows:
8 Section 1. The act of October 20, 1966 (3rd Sp.Sess.,
9 P.L.96, No.6), known as the "Mental Health and Mental
10 Retardation Act of 1966," is amended by adding a section to
11 read:
12 Section 103. General Policy.--(a) The purpose of this act
13 is to establish the structure of the publicly funded mental
14 health and mental retardation services delivery system in this
15 Commonwealth, and to set forth the responsibilities of the
16 Commonwealth with respect to that system.
17 (b) It is the purpose of this act to make services available
18 for persons who may exhibit symptoms of mental retardation but
19 who may have a primary diagnosis such as cerebral palsy,
1 epilepsy, autism, or other similar developmental disabilities
2 with services appropriate to that particular disability.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
