                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 26, 1947 (P.L.318, No.140), entitled, as
     2     reenacted and amended "An act relating to the public practice
     3     of certified public accountants; providing for the
     4     certification of persons desiring to practice, the
     5     registrations of public accountants, requiring continuing
     6     education for registrants, and the listing of persons engaged
     7     in practicing as certified public accountants and public
     8     accountants, and for the suspension and revocation of such
     9     certificates, subject to appeal and for their reinstatement;
    10     prescribing the powers and duties of the State Board of
    11     Examiners of Public Accountants and the Department of State;
    12     providing for ownership of working papers; defining unlawful
    13     acts and acts not unlawful; providing penalties, and
    14     repealing existing laws," further providing for continuing
    15     education for certain accountants.

    16     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    17  hereby enacts as follows:
    18     Section 1.  Section 8.2, act of May 26, 1947 (P.L.318,
    19  No.140), known as "The C. P. A. Law," act reenacted and amended
    20  December 8, 1976 (P.L.1280, No.286), is amended by adding a
    21  subsection to read:
    22     Section 8.2.  Permits to Practice.--* * *
    23     (e)  Notwithstanding subsections (b) and (c), each certified
    24  public accountant sixty-two years of age or older and who has

     1  been certified as a certified public accountant for thirty or
     2  more years shall be required to complete no more than thirty
     3  hours of continuing education every two years.
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
