AN ACT
1 Providing for an exemption from civil or criminal liability for
2 volunteer fire companies and members engaged in fire
3 prevention and safety activities.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Immunity from liability.
7 No volunteer fire company, or any member thereof, shall be
8 subject to any civil or criminal liability while engaged in
9 activities relating to fire prevention and safety.
10 Section 2. Definition.
11 As used in this act "fire prevention and safety" includes
12 fire prevention, first aid, rescue and salvage, ambulance
13 service, fire police work, assistance at accidents, control of
14 crowds both on the fire grounds and at occasions of public or
15 general assembly, animal rescue, abatement of conditions due to
16 storm, flood, or general peril, abatement or removal of hazards
1 to safety, and such other activities as are commonly undertaken
2 by fire companies and their affiliated organizations.
3 Section 3. Effective date.
4 This act shall take effect immediately.
