AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
3 certain arrests.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 8901 of Title 42, act of November 25,
7 1970 (P.L.707, No.230), known as the Pennsylvania Consolidated
8 Statutes, is amended to read:
9 § 8901. Intrastate hot pursuit.
10 Any police officer of any political subdivision may arrest
11 with or without warrant any person beyond the territorial limits
12 of such political subdivision for a summary or other offense
13 committed by such person within such political subdivision, or
14 committed in the officer's view, or where the officer has reason
15 to believe an offense was committed, while the officer is within
16 the territorial limits of his political subdivision, if the
17 officer continues in pursuit of such person after commission of
18 the offense. The police officer shall exercise under this
1 section only the power of arrest which he would have if he were
2 acting within the territorial limits of his political
3 subdivision.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
