                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1014, No.204), entitled
     2     "An act implementing the provisions of Article V of the
     3     Constitution of Pennsylvania relating to district justices;
     4     establishing magisterial districts; setting salaries and
     5     expenses; providing for certain education requirements;
     6     fixing jurisdiction; creating an administrator for district
     7     justices and imposing powers and duties on such
     8     administrator; requiring certain liability insurance; and
     9     making repeals," further providing for the compensation of
    10     district justices.

    11     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    12  hereby enacts as follows:
    13     Section 1.  Section 206, act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1014,
    14  No.204), known as the "Magisterial District Reform Act," is
    15  amended to read:
    16     Section 206.  Compensation.--(a)  Computation.--A district
    17  justice shall receive an annual salary paid by the Commonwealth
    18  and computed by adding to [$9,000] $11,500 $13,500 the product    <--
    19  of the population of his magisterial district times [60¢] 80¢,
    20  but in no event shall the salary exceed [$19,500] $22,500         <--
    21  $24,500 or be less than [$10,500] $14,500.


     1     (b.1)  Expenses while temporarily assigned.--Any district
     2  justice temporarily assigned to sit outside the political
     3  subdivision in which such justice's magisterial district is
     4  located shall be paid by the county, in which magisterial
     5  district the justice is temporarily assigned to, the actual,
     6  accountable expenses, not to exceed $50 per day, and mileage at
     7  22¢ 17¢ per mile for each day such justice is so assigned.        <--
     8     Section 2.  Any act or part of an act which is inconsistent
     9  with the provisions of this act is repealed to the extent of the
    10  inconsistency.
    11     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately and shall   <--
